Do they just make products to break these days? Seems like nothing lasts anymore. Hair dryers, washing machines, kid toys, grown-up toys… you name it. It’s so frustrating to know that it is almost cheaper to buy a new product than it is to take them to a repair shop. What’s up with that? AND, have you ever noticed that “your stuff” always seems to break at the same time? Arrgh… Glad my faith and hope are not in man-made items because they are unreliable! If your faith and hope are, I’m not only sorry for you but let me enlighten you and point you in the right direction!
It’s all going to burn and melt away! Read 2 Peter 3:13 and Revelation 21:1. God destroys heaven and earth and then He will make a new earth and heaven. This stuff we toil over isn’t going to last and we aren’t taking it with us either. Can you imagine living in a world with no more broken stuff- no more corruption? Hmmm, I wonder if we will even need “stuff” anymore…like washing machines or hair dryers? Will our clothes even get dirty or our hair out of place in heaven? Doesn’t seem quite like heaven if I continue to have my wild uncontrollable hair, now does it? Let me get a bit more random and off the track here. Have you ever wondered if there is going to be bacon in heaven? Who doesn’t love the smell of bacon cooking in the morning? Okay… back on track now.
Though we may live in a broken world with broken stuff, broken relationships, and broken people,
we have such hope!
* Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
(Hebrews 13:8)
* But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. (Jeremiah 10:10)
* ...Eternal Father... (Isaiah 9:6)
* Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17)
* God is not a man, that He should lie, He doesn’t change his mind like humans do. (Numbers 23:19)
* Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. (Psalm 90:2)
* BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER. And this is the word which was preached to you. (1Peter 1:25)
You get the idea here. We can trust in the Lord. What a thrill to know we are going somewhere. We have the Eternal God now in our lives and we will live an eternal life with God in Heaven someday soon! Yet, we still live here in this broken world and we might be surrounded by broken things in our home or have a broken relationship with someone. Heck, we might even feel a little broken ourselves but Christ came to make all things new again and to mend the broken hearted. Such hope we have!
What are we investing in right now? Time here is but a vapor and one day we will stand before the Lord. He will want to know what we did with our lives, our time, and our resources. We won’t be able to point to what we did a year ago, or last month. We will have to point at what we are doing today. If you are like me in any way, there are times when I can get overwhelmed and exhausted by all the things around my house that are broken. Yep, I’ve been known to shed a few tears of frustration and so I must continually remind myself that this isn’t heaven yet and all this stuff I fret over is just going to burn away.
Father in Heaven, Help us to see the need to be more diligent by making sure our “stuff” is not controlling us or that our worry over our “broken stuff” isn’t controlling us either. We want to have eyes and hearts set on You and also have a longing for heaven. Thank you that we can trust in You and place all our hope in You. Amen
Found Lost in You
Lord God…cause my soul to swell in fullness
with Your in-dwelling Holy Spirit
~~~~~
Minimize my concerns which afflict and divide
the diligence I must have in order to be immersed
by the whisper of Your voice.
~~~~
Speak into my life Lord,
and may I continually be found lost in You
and at peace where You have placed me
for this time and for Your chosen purpose.

May it be our desire that we be women who live in the present and are aware of the world around us. May we take notice of the blessings God gifts to each of us, and always long to hear His whispers. Shall we also pray with a more purposeful focus on God’s will? And as we stay connected in our relationship with Christ, we will become more thankful followers. Let us commit to doing this together! Close your eyes…Open your heart, let God’s Spirit empower you today.
